CHARLES  RIVER  PARKLANDS  UPDATE
July 2003
Archives—Table of Contents

Advocacy

Parkway News
Thank you to those of you who contacted your legislators and urged them to override the veto on Outside Section #696. With your encouragement, members of the House and Senate protected the long-term integrity of the metropolitan parks system by prohibiting transfer of any component of the metroparks system to any other agencies or other entities without legislative approval. This is great news for the parkways!

Skatepark News
On Thursday, July 30th, Butch Stearns of Fox 25 Sports will moderate a meeting for athletes interested in shaping Boston's future world-class skatepark. The meeting will be held from 6:30-8:30 in the Mezzanine Conference Room at the Boston Public Library (Copley Square). A panel of experts—including professional skateboarder Vanik Hacobian and skatepark designer, Jamie MacDonald—will address comments from the audience regarding safety and maintenance issues. Follow these links for more information on the project and this opportunity.
