Advocacy

Parklands Ambassadors
There is still time to join! Do you love walking in the Charles River Parklands, meeting new people and telling them about the history and ecology of the parklands? If so, then becoming a Charles River Conservancy Parklands Ambassador is perfect for you! To learn more, click on Parklands Ambassador Program.

Program Spotlight

See the skatepark movieCharles River Skatepark Film Released
The Charles River Skatepark Documentary, produced by Eye Candy Cinema, is ready for viewing! This 8 minute film features interviews with, among others; CRC President Renata von Tscharner, Former Lt. Governor Thomas O'Neill III, Mass Turnpike Authority Chairman Matthew Amorello, and professional skatepark designer Zach Wormhoudt. With clips of skateboarding, skateparks and the BPL youth design meetings; this film is a great way to spread the word about the Charles River Skatepark. If you would like to host a Charles River Skatepark Documentary viewing event, please contact Noah Stockman at nes@thecharles.org. To view the film, click on the skateboarder image above. Please be patient if the movie does not start right away; the file is 22megs.

Skatepark Fundraising Update
Several new pledges have come in bringing the private Charles River Skatepark funds to over $180,000 of the $1.1 million goal. The City of Cambridge included a request of $100,000 in their budget for the Charles River Skatepark. With the Mass Turnpike Authority doing the site preparation, we are making great progress. Become part of this world-class vision.

All donations made by skateboarders, bmx bikers and inline skaters will be quadrupled by a generous donor, so donate now.

Conservancy Volunteers

Enjoy the beautiful spring weather—spend a day helping out in the parklands! Upcoming Conservancy Volunteer events include brush cutting, invasive plant species removal and several erosion control projects. For a list of dates and ways to get involved, click here. The spring and summer Conservancy Volunteers schedule is filling up fast with over 20 groups already booked! WBOS Festival for the Earth
Volunteers Needed! Soak up some sun, listen to great music and help make the WBOS Festival for the Earth more eco-friendly! On Saturday, April 24th join the CRC staff and other community volunteers and help operate the recycling program at the WBOS Festival for the Earth. Volunteer to work a three hour shift and enjoy a VIP pass allowing you to hang out in the VIP area before and after your shift. GeesePeace Update

Volunteers are still needed to help the CRC, the MSPCA and the Department of Conservation and Recreation implement the GeesePeace program along the Charles. This is a great opportunity to learn more about Canada Geese and their impact upon ecosystems such as the Charles River Parklands. If you'd like to learn how to help oil eggs, identify nest sites, or otherwise get involved, please call Britt Lundgren at the CRC office or email bml@thecharles.org.

CRC Calendar

From guided tours, to concerts along the riverbanks, to taking a jog or bike ride; there are plenty of ways to enjoy the Charles River Parklands this spring. For a list of upcoming events, visit the CRC Calendar.
