Earthday Cleanup along the Charles on April 21st

Evan Moss of the CRC will be leading all Cambridge shoreline efforts. The CRC is part of the Earthday organizing team that includes Senator Tolman's office, CRWA, TEA, the City of Newton, and MassPirg's Waterwatch. please contact Evan Moss at elm@thecharles.org.

Afterwards, please join us at Avalon (15 Lansdowne Street, Boston) for the Cleanup After Party sponsored by Young Alumni Volunteer Association (YAVA) and HeyLetsGo. Doors open at 10:00PM with a special $5 cover until midnight. All proceeds collected before midnight benefit the CRC and YAVA. We will also receive an additional $5 for advance RSVPs. Public funding for parkland – Send message today!

Urge your state representatives to support increased funding for urban state parks during the floor debate. The Massachusetts House begins its debate on April 23rd.

Skatepark Presentation – Sunday, May 20th

Join Skatepark Designer Zach Wormhoudt, Reverend Richard Malmberg, and Public Artist Nancy Schön in the Mezzanine Room at the Boston Public Library in Copley Square from 3:00PM-5:00PM. For more details, please visit the skatepark website.

Herter Park Science Festival

On Sunday, April 29th from 10:00AM – 3:00PM, the CRWA is transforming Herter Park in Allston into a Science Theme Park to educate people about the Charles River and its watershed. It will include interactive exhibitions, an Eco River Boat Trip, fly fishing clinic, and Duck Boat audio tours. For more information, please click here.

Charles River Swim Race

On Saturday, July 21st, the Charles River Swimming Club will host the One Mile Swim. It will be the first ever open water swim race on the Charles River. The course is a one mile loop off the Esplanade and the event is intended to raise awareness to return recreational swimming to the Charles. CRC Hiring Stewardship/Press Assistant

Any river lovers out there interested in advocating for, publicizing, and working on the banks of the Charles? We are seeking someone to assist our Stewardship Program Manager in facilitating volunteer events and leading our service learning program, working both in and out of the classroom with school groups. Working as an important part of a small team, the successful candidate will also have the opportunity to work on press matters for the Charles River Conservancy. The Charles River Conservancy takes as its mission the renewal and stewardship of the Charles River Parklands and their surroundings, particularly parks, parkways and bridges. The Conservancy engages in numerous Parklands restoration and improvement initiatives, including access and safety, education and outreach, and planning and maintenance programs, and relies heavily on individual contributions.
