Skatepark Event this Sunday

Please join us for a public event at the Copley Square Boston Public Library. The event will be from 3:00PM-5:00PM this Sunday, May 20th in the Mezzanine Room. Presenters include Charles River Skatepark designer, Zach Wormhoudt from Santa Cruz CA. In addition, Senator Jarrett Barrios will be joining us. Pathway Repaving and Traffic Calming on Nonantum Road

The CRC has raised $22,000 for pathway resurfacing which was doubled by the EOEA, and then generously supplemented by the Solomon Fund. This money is now being applied to resurfacing the bike path between the Watertown border and the Arsenal Bridge. In addition, the state legislature recently secured $250,000 towards the design of traffic calming measures on Nonantum Road. To read more, please click here.

Public Funding for the Parklands

The Senate has submitted its budget. Please take some time to contact your state Senator and ask them to support an additional $9.6 million for the DCR. Contact information for your Senator can be found by clicking here.

The Great Park Pursuit

As part of a national No Child Left Inside initiative, the DCR is challenging teams to visit different state parks over a six week period beginning May 19th at Blue Hills Reservation in Milton and running every Saturday through June 23rd. Teams will receive weekly clues about where the next event will be held. To register, get games rules, and learn more, please visit www.greatparkpursuit.org.

Charles River Swim Race

On Saturday, July 21st, the Charles River Swimming Club will host the One Mile Swim. It will be the first ever open water swim race on the Charles River. The course is a one mile loop off the Esplanade and the event is intended to raise awareness to return recreational swimming to the Charles. CRC Open Positions

Stewardship/Press Assistant
Any river lovers out there interested in advocating for, publicizing, and working on the banks of the Charles? We are seeking someone to assist our Stewardship Program Manager with volunteer events and service learningprograms. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to work on press matters. Development Assistant
The Charles River Conservancy is seeking someone to help with the administrative side of events and fundraising. The successful candidate will be well organized with strong writing and communication skills. Knowledge about graphic software, iPhoto, and powerpoint presentations is essential. The Charles River Conservancy takes as its mission the renewal and stewardship of the Charles River Parklands and their surroundings, particularly parks, parkways and bridges.
