Public / Private
Partnership results in repaved bike path along Charles River: If
you have bicycled or in-line-skated on the southern shore of the
Charles River along Nonatum Road, you have often experienced a bumpy
ride. The path is overcome with roots that break out of the pavement,
and significant holes that endanger walking, running or rolling.

Swimming
in the Charles
- Once millions came to the Charles River Parklands to swim. Now,
swimmers are making a splash in the Charles River once again.
- Herter Park West
- A donation by Lawrence Coolidge has begun the process of reclaiming
this long closed off section of Herter Park in Brighton.

- Hell's Half Acre
- A wetland in West Cambridge that serves as crucial habitat and
is a great educational resource.
- Pedestrian Safety
- Good walking conditions are the backbone of every community’s
transportation system and one of the most important elements of livable

River Skatepark
- A world-class skatepark in East Cambridge along the Charles River.

- The River Street Bridge, 4th to be illuminated by the CRC.

- Reclaiming the Legacy
- A symposium on the future of the Charles River Parklands, November

- BU Sailing
Pavilion
- CRC worked in collaboration with other advocacy groups on the effort
to place the new sailing pavilion in a location that minimizes the
impact on other park users and to bring mitigation benefits to the
surrounding parklands.

- Pedestrian Bridges
over parkways
- Placing signs on the bridges for motorists' orientation and adding
pedestrian bridges on Boston's walking maps.
